Full commitment for refugee families from Ukraine: For six weeks, more than 40 employees of Röhm GmbH, headquartered in Sontheim, worked in the evenings and on weekends to spruce up a house in neighboring Bächingen. It was renovated and furnished to the hilt so that a family of five from the Lemberg region and another mother and child can now live in the house for a year free of charge. The rent for the house is paid by the TOOLS FOR LIFE Foundation while the furniture was donated by the company's employees and their families. The Bayern Fan Club Sontheim participated in the project with a donation of EUR 999.
"I am overwhelmed by the response to this campaign and, of course, incredibly proud of our team. Many of our colleagues lent a hand and sacrificed many hours of free time for a good cause. That is sensational," says Röhm Managing Director Gerhard Glanz. His managing director colleague Dr. Till Scharf not only had the brilliant idea of making the living space available to families who had fled, but he also diligently lent a hand himself together with his colleagues. Under the direction of training manager Uli Steeger, the Röhm team spruced up the residential building in record time. "That went extremely well. We renovated the entire bathroom, relaid the floors in the living areas, and, of course, repainted all the walls," says Steeger.
In addition to the numerous hours of work after hours and on weekends, many employees also agreed to donate goods. In this way, a wide range of furniture was collected ranging from televisions to cribs and bedding. Further furniture was bought with the donation of the Bayern fan club Sontheim in the amount of EUR 999.
The family of five with two girls (10 and 13 years old) and a five-year-old son as well as another mother with a child can now look forward to a new home with a pretty garden and apple trees. They will be looked after by Sontheim's pastor Steffen Palmer during the coming year.
The starting point for the aid project in Bächingen was the overarching Help Day of Dr. Helmut Rothenberger Holding GmbH, to which Röhm GmbH has belonged since 2017. All companies of the Rothenberger Group aim to make a social commitment on one day in May each year. At Röhm, the Help Day has now become more than 40 days and the TOOLS FOR LIFE foundation, which is close to the Rothenberger Group, supports the project on a permanent basis.
