The trade journal MaschinenMarkt (MM) bestows the coveted MM Award on another product innovation from the Röhm group of companies. The clamping and gripping technology specialist was able to prevail against numerous award applicants with its world premiere for machining watch plates. "The award confirms that we are on the right path with our solutions for flexible production of tomorrow," says Dr Michael Fried, CEO of the Röhm group of companies.
Together, the Swiss subsidiary and the German parent plant of the clamping technology specialist developed an ingenious solution with the involvement of well-known watch manufacturers: a chuck that for the first time makes it possible to machine plates on both sides with one clamping operation. With the patented innovation, Röhm offers watch manufacturers an efficient alternative that increases the machining accuracy along with higher output quantities.
The patented innovation clamps the plate on a console for machining the first side. Then, the chuck is swivelled by 180° on the machine (e.g. by a divider). During the automatic swivelling operation, the workpiece support also swings to the other side of the plate. This ensures a secure support for the plate on both sides, and overpressure is prevented. Now, the second side of the plate can be machined reliably and without any loss of accuracy. That way, Röhm scored points not only with the judges, but also with users, who have now clearly shown a great deal of interest.
With the MM Award, the editorial staff of the trade journal awards prizes to the most innovative exhibits at the leading trade fair of metals processing. The awards go to innovations that were developed within the last twelve months, set technical standards and also provide financial benefits.
