RÖHM branching out into new industries

In some cases, RÖHM’s microclamping solutions are no bigger than a matchstick. They are used for the processing of dental technology implants.

RÖHM is aiming to get a foothold in new industries with its clamping solutions for small and ultra-small workpieces. The Sontheim company is now offering products for the manufacture of knee and hip joints and dental technology implants. Some of the units in question are smaller than a matchstick. RÖHM recently attended the Medtec trade fair in Stuttgart, which has just come to an end, for the fourth time. The event is a showcase for information about technological options in the production of medical equipment and related products.

The positive feedback from trade visitors put RÖHM's representatives in an optimistic mood. 'We already have a reputation as a supplier of clamping and gripping tools in the machine engineering and automotive sectors. We are delighted that our high standing in this field gives us the opportunity of embarking on a new venture in the field of medical technology. Our attendance at the event enabled us to forge numerous new contacts with international specialists,' said CEO Michael Fried, Dr.-Ing.

The company looks to see higher than average future growth in the field of medical technology, not least in view of the rising life expectations of the population. But RÖHM also specialises in solutions for the watchmaking and jewellery industries. This is another field where exceptionally sensitive clamping technology is required, to avoid distorting the workpiece. Such technology is an absolute prerequisite for the processing of watch housings, as well as delicate microcomponents like watch and clock mechanisms, cog wheels, bezels and push starts.
